Unplug the shaver before removing the head. Its cleaning instructions specify which parts can be rinsed and which need dry cleaning; the handle and cutting head may have different requirements.
The thin foil needs gentle handling throughout. Hold removable pieces by their frame and inspect the metal surface as you work. Stop using an assembly with a torn or badly distorted foil; cleaning cannot repair that damage.

Set the parts out before you start. The foil and the cutter block need different handling.
- Follow the head-removal instructions and keep the loose components together. A small tray provides a place for them, particularly when working beside a sink.
- Braun advises brushing the cutter block after removing the head and explicitly says to avoid brushing the cutter foil. For other designs, follow the guidance for each component. Keep pins, stiff tools and pressure from a cloth away from the delicate metal surface.
- For a washable model, use the rinsing method and cleaning products permitted in its instructions. For a device that requires dry cleaning, follow the specified brushing routine. The Braun and Panasonic care guides below explain these procedures for their supported devices.
Drying, lubrication and reassembly
Allow the cleaned parts to dry as instructed before putting the shaver in its case. Where lubrication is required, use the recommended oil and apply it to the specified areas. Avoid substituting a household lubricant or adding more than the instructions call for.
Refit the head carefully, following the assembly directions. If poor shaving performance prompted the clean, note whether it improves afterward. That information will help when deciding whether the cutting parts need replacement or when describing the problem to support.
