You know it’s a Braun Series 7 or a Philips OneBlade. Then you search for a replacement and find several heads that all sound right. The missing detail is usually the model number.
Switch the shaver off and look at the back and underside of the handle. You’re looking for a code made up of letters and numbers. Keep the whole thing, including anything after a slash or hyphen.
The tiny letters matter
Series names cover more than one shaver. “OneBlade” gets you to the right family; a code such as QP2520/20 tells you much more. Don’t shorten it to make the search easier. The suffix may be the detail that separates your version from another one.
If there are several numbers, copy the words beside them too. “Model,” “Type” and “Serial” don’t mean the same thing. A serial number belongs to your individual appliance; it isn’t usually the number you need to shop for a head.
Can’t read the label? Try a photo.
A phone camera can help with lettering that’s too small to read comfortably. Take a close-up, change the angle to reduce reflections, then zoom in. Check the original image before deciding whether that faint character is a zero or the letter O.
The photograph above shows what useful markings can look like on the rear of a Panasonic handle. Your label may be elsewhere. There’s no need to open the housing to go looking for it.
No label left
Try the box, receipt or product-registration email. If you find a code, compare the manufacturer’s product page with the shaver you have. Packaging from another device can send you down the wrong path.
Still stuck? Send the manufacturer a few clear photos: front, back and head attachment. Once you have the model, find its replacement part in the official support information before comparing shops.
