Rinse a shaver only when its cleaning instructions permit it. The manual should specify whether water can be used on a removable component or on the assembled shaver.
Permission to clean with water and permission to shave in the shower are separate instructions.

For the Philips models covered by its symbol guide, a tap indicates that the shaver can be cleaned with water. A bath or shower symbol also permits wet use as described in the manual, while a crossed-out tap requires dry cleaning. Match the marking on your shaver to the explanation in its manual.
A cleaning reminder on the display serves a different purpose from a water-use marking on the housing. A removable head or a photograph of water on the packaging is also insufficient to establish which cleaning method is permitted.
With a second-hand shaver, use the markings on the device itself. The box or charger may have come from a different model.
Cleaning and charging
Disconnect the lead before cleaning, keep the adapter away from splashes and follow the drying instructions before charging again. A shaver’s wet-shaving instructions do not establish that it can be used with its cable connected.
If the housing or charging connection is damaged, seek advice about the damage before relying on the device’s usual water-use instructions.
Find instructions for an unidentified shaver
Search the manufacturer’s support site using the complete model code printed on the handle. If the markings are unclear, send support photographs of both the markings and the whole device.
Leave water cleaning until you have confirmed which method is permitted.
