Check the cleaning instructions for your exact shaver before rinsing it. A removable head, a water-themed advert or a familiar-looking symbol isn’t enough on its own.
The useful detail is what the manufacturer permits you to wash: a removable component, the assembled shaver, or neither. Read that separately from any instructions about shaving in the shower.
What does that little symbol mean?
Use the manual to identify it. Philips explains that the symbols vary between models, so don’t borrow the meaning from a different handle. If the marking has worn away, look up the model printed elsewhere on the device.
This is especially worth doing with a second-hand shaver. Its box or charger may not be the one originally supplied with it.
Keep charging equipment away from water
Disconnect the lead before cleaning and keep the adapter away from splashes. Follow the drying instructions before charging again. Permission to wet shave doesn’t tell you that the shaver can be used with its cable connected.
If the housing or charging connection is damaged, get advice about that damage before relying on the model’s usual water-use instructions.
If you can’t find the manual
Start with the complete model code on the handle and search the manufacturer’s support site. If you still can’t identify it, send support a clear photo of the markings and the whole device.
Until you have an answer, leave water cleaning for later. A few minutes finding the right instructions is preferable to testing washability at the sink.
