Clean the head before judging wear
Remove accumulated hair using the method specified for your shaver. Braun describes rinsing suitable models with water and a little liquid soap, or using a compatible cleaning station. Wet cleaning is model-dependent: disconnect the charger and follow the instructions for that handle.
Do not scrub the thin cutter foil with the cleaning brush. Braun reserves brush cleaning for suitable cutter parts and warns against brushing the foil itself. Follow the manual's lubrication instructions if you wash the head regularly.
A replacement cassette addresses worn cutting parts. If the shaver no longer charges, the motor will not run or the head holder is broken, identify that fault before buying a new head.
Choose the correct Braun replacement head
The series name is only a starting point. Copy the complete handle model and compare it with the manufacturer's replacement list. Braun uses different heads across its ranges and generations; a similar appearance alone does not establish compatibility.
A complete cassette combines foil and cutters. Braun's 94M product page identifies that replacement for Series 9 and Series 9 Pro shavers. The linked 94M guide contains the documented model list; other series need their own reference.
Keep the head holder, release mechanism and cleaning cartridge separate in your shopping list. A shaving cassette does not replace these components, and cleaning fluid has its own schedule.
Replace the head and reset the reminder
Switch the shaver off and disconnect its charger. Remove the old head using the release mechanism shown in the manual, fit the correct replacement and check that it is securely seated. Do not force a head that will not attach.
Reset a replacement reminder after replacing the required parts. Button sequences vary, so use the instructions for your exact handle. There is no single reset duration that applies to every Braun model. Cleaning symbols and battery warnings are different messages.
Record the replacement date and part reference. A head fitted on 15 September 2026 reaches the 18-month planning point on 15 March 2028. Inspect it during routine cleaning and replace damaged cutting parts earlier.
Panasonic and OneBlade use different schedules
Do not apply Braun's guidance to every shaver. Panasonic's general maintenance guide gives about one year for separate outer foils and two years for separate inner blades. Its newer ES-L550W manual instead specifies an integrated WES9510 system and an approximately 18-month interval, based on one three-minute shave per day.
Philips describes OneBlade blades as lasting up to four months based on two full shaves per week. Actual results vary, and a shorter personal interval changes the running cost. Use the schedule for the actual cutting system and replace damaged parts immediately.
